Our online classes are offered in real time with you, the teacher, and other students connecting virtually through Zoom.

HOW TO REGISTER

  • Pre-register for each class.

  • We recommend signing up at least 10 minutes before the class starts. You will need that time to get your link, settle in, and connect with the teacher before class begins. Most students sign up for class the night before.

  • An hour before class starts we will send you your personalized Zoom link via email.

  • Please add this email address to your contacts: no-reply@apiant.com

HOW TO SET UP FOR CLASS

  • We recommend setting up a practice area in your home with an open space, and if possible, a mat before the class start time.

  • If you have yoga props, gather them together.  A belt and block plus a few blankets are great. If you don’t have yoga props, no problem, your teacher will let you know if you need anything.

  • Turn off notifications and any devices that you aren’t using to view the class.

MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR CLASS EXPERIENCE

  • Please enter your zoom class 10 minutes before the start time. It is important that you arrive at least 5 minutes before class starts. That gives you time to meet the teacher, make sure your audio and video is set and settle in for a nice class experience. These minutes before class are very important for your safety and ours, and sets the tone for the rest of the class.

  • Please have your video on. The teacher can connect with you and provide safer guidance.

  • Before class starts, the teacher will mute everyone’s audio to improve the sound quality for all. You can unmute yourself at anytime to speak to the teacher or ask questions.

  • If you have any questions, or run into issues during class, please communicate with the teacher by unmuting your mic or using the Chat function.

  • You will enjoy the class most if you view in “full screen” mode. At the end of class you may want to say hello to everyone here in “gallery” mode.

TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS

An hour before class we will email a personalized link for you to get into the class. If you don’t see the email please take the following steps:

  • Check your Spam/Junk folders and Promotions/Updates tabs for an email from IYSDC with the subject line that begins with “Link for Online”. Alternatively, you can do a search in your email program for “Link for Online” in the subject heading.

  • Move this email to your primary inbox and mark it ‘not junk.’

  • Put us on your safe email list. Add no-reply@apiant.com as an email contact to prevent this email from ending up in your junk/spam folder.

  • If you still don’t see the email, please send us a message at iysdc808@gmail.com to request the zoom link. Many of you contact your teacher directly when this happens and you may continue to do so.

HOW TO USE ZOOM

  • Download the free Zoom client or app before your class at zoom.us.

  • Zoom has some great video tutorials on their website including this one on how to join a zoom meeting.

  • For the best experience you will want to join from a device that has a video camera and microphone. Most computers have both. A desktop, laptop, or large tablet are preferable for their screen size.

  • Position your device or webcam 10-12 feet away from your yoga mat and 2-3 feet above the floor.

  • You will be automatically muted during the session unless the teacher opens up a conversation. This is to help with sound quality. You can unmute yourself at any time. And, there is a chat function where you can raise your hand with questions and write the teacher a note.

  • If you would like the teacher to see you and your practice, keep your video camera on. If you would like to practice privately then you can turn your video camera off. You can also scroll through and see everyone else who is in the class with you by going to gallery view.
